POMERANIAN DOG FOR ADOPTION

mailThis lovely pomeranian dog was found abandoned presumably because it is bereft of one its front legs. It is male, about 2 years of age and is extremely friendly and loving in nature. It would make a wonderful pet and it would be great if a kind family could come forward and adopt it. Contact Poornima@9880563690

DOUBLE TROUBLE FOR THIS POOR DOG

mailBlog sent by Poornima Desai

The dog in the picture was brought to Krupa Hospital by a good samaritan in a pitiable condition. According to him, this dog used to reside in the street close to his office, in front of some shops. It was already handicapped with posterior paralysis but used to bravely move around searching for its food. Some benevolent shop-keepers used to feed it as well. Tragedy struck it a second time when the vehicle behind which it was sleeping suddenly started and went right over its two paralysed hind paws. The paws have been flattened out to some extent and when brought to the hospital, were full of pus and in an inflamed condition. However, the positive sign was that the infection had not spread any further.

The dog was administered pain killers and anti-inflamatory drugs. A course of antibiotics has also been administered. The wounds have been thoroughly cleaned and daily dressing with Betadine and some other medicines is going on. The dog is progressing well, the infection has been controlled and it is eating well. It is being given tonics to improve its blood count and general health. Treatment is also on to see if its paralytic condition can be improved to some extent so that it may be able to lead a meaningful life.

An Appeal to all animal lovers

Time and again we are getting numerous calls from people requesting us to accept stray animals which they happen to find on the streets. While we understand and appreciate the concern they have about animals suffering due to desertion and rejection, we request animal lovers to ponder the following points.

Krupa has infrastructure and financial constraints which prevents accepting more and more animals. Krupa survives only on donations and there is no government grant. Food, medical expenses and maintenance are our main concern. We already have over a hundred animals including – apart from dogs – oxen, sheep and horses. While other organizations refuse to accept stray animals, Krupa has been taking these animals considering their plights. While we wish we had more financial muscle to handle any number of such cases, we find it extremely difficult to provide a decent life to the animals when the number of admissions goes beyond our capacity to handle.

We appeal to animal lovers to consider taking care of street animals by forming volunteer groups in your locality. Healthy street dogs are better off on the streets if taken care by residents. In extreme cases if any sick animal needs treatment, you may take Krupa’s help. But please take back the animal after treatment and keep them under your care. Animal rescue and protection is a collective social responsibility and we hope this point will be well understood. You may also consider helping us financially if you wish to bring very old and terminally sick animals. God bless these people who are concerned about the sufferings of street animals.

DOG WITH BIG-SIZE TUMOR

1122 This dog with a big-size blood-filled tumor was admitted to Krupa Hospital a few weeks ago. After stabilizing the animal with good nutritious food and medicines for two weeks, the tumor was surgically removed under general anesthesia by the doctor at Krupa. The dog is recuperating. Post-operative treatment is on, the wound with a big surface area is healing well and the dog will be ready for release in a few weeks time. No new tumors have been noted.

A Story that can move even the stone-hearted

salvieAnimesh resides in Cuttack, Orissa. He happened to see Krupa blog site and immediately contacted us and expressed interests for adopting a dog. Poornima and me were skeptical and did not take this very seriously. But Animesh is made of a different stuff. He made several calls and convinced us that he intended to come down to Bangalore for the adoption. He already selected Sony from our ad. Believe it or not. He drove all the way from Cuttack to Bangalore, a distance of over 2000 Km. We were bowled out seeing Animesh in front of Krupa. This iron-willed person with a heart of gold, adopted Sony and named him Salvi – for Salvation. Like a storm he came and drove back with Salvi. Read what he says:

‘I named her Salvation @Salvi. As I thought of to send a write up, I deliberated for some hours and realized that, I have nothing to express or share about the adoption story. Salvi does not seem to be adopted; it’s exactly been 10days that she has entered into my life, and it’s strange that we act as if we know each other since years. She would come running and hug me standing on her hind legs when I return from work, in the morning she would bark and run to the doors, come back and bark again as she itches for a walk, then I would jog and she would just walk like as if my mentor, she would tail me at mid of nights to the kitchen as I go to fetch a bottle of water. At one point of time I believed, it was my decision to adopt her traveling 4000kms by road, now I say, I am wrong, it was sheer destiny.
Thanks a lot Mr. Rajan, Poornima, Akshara, Juhi & Tekramji for all this to happen.’

SMOKEY. AND TEDDY BID ADIEU TO KRUPA

mailBy Poornima Desai

But this is a story with a HAPPY ENDING. Smokey and Teddy were inmates of the Krupa Animal Hospital cum Shelter for a good two years. They were ‘findlings’ brought to the shelter by some good samaritans when they chanced to see them wandering around the streets completely lost and at the mercy of the traffic snarls. They had either been abandoned by their masters or had strayed away from their homes, something no one will ever know. At the shelter, they led quiet lives, sharing space and attention with another hundred similar animals.
Until fortune smiled upon them in the guise of a warm-hearted Pallavi who visited the shelter regularly and decided to give them both a home that they deserved. She adopted them and did everything possible to give them a life of love and comfort. Today Smokey and Teddy lead a secure life with their new mistress who dotes upon them. On a recent visit to the shelter, both seemed to have put their past behind them and were quite alarmed at the number of curious animals at the shelter. No words are enough to convey the gratitude that we have towards the kindly young lady who has transformed the lives of two lovely little animals.
