A VICTIM OF UNIMAGINABLE HUMAN CRUELTY

mail

The state of the dog in the picture is a stark example of the cruelty that humans can perpetrate on a helpless creature. It was by sheer chance that Sunil, a volunteer of Krupa spotted this unfortunate creature tied up in a forest area along the NICE road with no protection from either sun or rain. How long it had been tied up in this way is anybody’s guess. Its face reads like a horror story with half the face and an eye missing – probably due to acid attack.

Judging by the manner in which all its ribs are sticking out, one can safely conclude that it had been left to starve for quite some time. Worse still is the state of its face which has been eaten away by maggots and is rotting. Sunil, who has an eye and ears for suffering animals, could sense it even while he was speeding in a car. It was with great difficulty that he managed to get the poor dog into his car. Even with the stench of rotting flesh he drove it straight to Krupa hospital. When admitted, its face was teeming with hundreds of maggots. It took almost two days and several sessions to get rid of the majority of the maggots and clean all the wounds.

The most poignant part which brings tears to one’s eyes is the will that this poor creature has, to survive against all odds. It drinks milk and manages to eat a few soft solids too. It is extremely friendly and offers a paw readily to anyone who is brave enough to go close and see the horror. The biggest challenge is to keep the wounds free from infection and further deterioration. The staff at Krupa are doing their best to keep the poor creature comfortable and one can only hope and pray for its well-being.

AN APPEAL FOR HELP

It is now rainy season. At Krupa we harbour more than a hundred animals – mostly under treatment – including dogs, cats, bulls, horses and sheep/goats. While there is ample open space to keep them, sheds and canopies are required to protect the animals from this monsoon rains. Since dogs are territorial in nature, rain shelters are required at different places. With voluntary donations we were able to build three such canopies. We need a few more especially a bigger one in front of our office where many dogs congregate.

This simple structure of 30 feet length covered with plastic or asbestos sheets is estimated to cost about Rs. 30,000. We also need two sheds for the bulls to protect them from heat and rains. This will cost us about Rs. 20,000 at the minimum.

As KRUPA is not funded by any government agency, we appeal to all compassionate animal lovers to contribute for this project. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated.

A LOVELY LITTLE LIGHT SHINES NO MORE

Sent by Poornima

Rani was a lovely little German Shephard puppy that came to Krupa about two years ago. A glaring example of owner-apathy, she had been rendered paralyzed by a severe attack of Canine Distemper and then had been abandoned by the owner. When she came to rupa hospital, she could scarcely move and could not bark as her vocal cords had been paralyzed as well. With the medical treatment at Krupa and above all the unstinting love and care bestowed on her by the caretaker who spared no effort to make her life comfortable, Rani improved by leaps and bounds. She learnt how to bark, was able to move around on her front legs and gained in confidence. She was an epitome of patience
and fortitude and bore her handicap without a complaint, in all, one of the sweetest dogs that one ever could know. However, like all good things end soon, Rani too left us last week after a brief illness from which she could not recover. We at Krupa are left with only her memories to treasure and to give us the strength to serve many more unfortunate creatures like her.We pray for her soul to rest in peace and hope she has a happy next-life.

LUCKY LITTLE DOG

mail

This beautiful dog was brought to Krupa Hospital about a month back by a kindly lady who found her wandering in the main street, obviously abandoned by her owners. Being very friendly by nature, she soon made friends with all around. She was lucky too as the lady who found her, managed to find a good home as well for her. The doggie is now settled in her new home with her new masters who are very loving and are sparing no effort to make her happy. We can only express our heartfelt gratitude to the kindly couple who adopted her.

A reply to a complaint we received earlier

Mr. Roy replies to the message posted earlier:

I am the proud owner of the fawn colour Labrador retriever. It is very sad to see that your own neighbours being a step away abstain from raising concerns in person about problems and assumes things to be written on a public forum, without any proof at all. First of all, all the claims are totally false against the same. My dog is an exceptionally healthy, well kept and pampered dog ever. Yes it is true , that when we leave for work, so we do keep him in the balcony,(most of the time unleashed with sufficient food and water as recommended by the vets) for which case any big dog once in a while needs to be leashed (be it a retriever or Rottweiler). I see no harm in it. Exactly by 5pm or so he is left out and mingles , exercises and even shares our bed and sofa till again next morning 10am. Though I am not answerable to anyone of my families schedule (dog being a family member only), still I feel its my duty towards all animal lover. I have brought up this dog like my own son. He is healthy as claimed by Miss Moni (dog trainer-8123205627) who came on the 9th of May after seeing the above post, to check on him. Concerned persons can also verify the above mentioned things with her .Both water and pedigree (that’s what we give him) are sufficient and as prescribed by the vet. His vet’s card and food details are all accounted for.
Anyway that was a lot about us. The above post has been simply written cause a dog when he barks causes certain neighborly disturbances and to of course to defame us. We will not take this lightly as these false accusations have defamed our reputation. We may go to the extent of taking legal help if required, to see that the person responsible for the same also constrain themselves for interfering in others life without proof, and which are none of their business.

LOVELY DOG FOR ADOPTION

DSC00708

A beautiful, young and very friendly dog (Can you name the breed?) was found tied to the gates of KRUPA a few days ago. The heartless owner has abandoned the poor creature but at least he had the heart to dump it in front of KRUPA. The dog is a mere child longing for love and compassion. We are looking for the right kind of people who will keep him with affection without which he will wither away. People who feel a horror for chains, leashes and kennels may contact us at 7829816208.

KITTEN WITH MULTIPLE INJURIES

mail3
This kitten was brought to Krupa Hospital in a serious condition with several injuries. Half of one front paw was missing and two more paws were also severely injured. In additon, the kitten had wounds on its neck and back. It was partially paralyzed too. The treatment is on and the plucky kitten is responding well. The wounds are all healing well,
the kitten has regained most of its movement and is hopping about on three legs. In spite of its injuries, it is very spirited and gives a warning purr to anyone who might venture too close.

“PRITHVI” THE GRITTY DALMATIAN

mail2

mailThis female Dalmatian, aged about 6 years, was abandoned by her masters as they were shifting to a new place. Luckily for her, some kind neighbours rescued her and took care of her. But then she developed a huge mammary tumor and thus was brought to Krupa for treatment. Routine tests revealed that she was anaemic and thus she was put on iron injections and medicines until her blood count improved enough for her to withstand surgery. The doctor then surgically removed the tumor and sutured the wound. The dog was on post-operative treatment for two weeks. Now the wound has completely healed and the dog is ready for release. The good news is that her foster family is ready to adopt her and take care her for the rest of her life. Prithvi’s story thus ends on a happy note, thanks to her foster family who took her under their wings and gave her a new lease of life.
